I forgot about her, I was never a fan... but she has crazy talent with out a doubt.
Apprently she had a show at the A.C.C. this week.

A reported audience of 6,800 fans showed up to her gig at the Air Canada Centre, which can hold 15,800 fans for a concert. Her shows across the country reported similarly anemic turnouts, while the reviews varied from tepid to scathing — a representative notice from the Winnipeg Free Press compared her lifeless performance to that of a zombie.

And considering that Lavigne's latest — "Goodbye Lullaby" — has failed to generate a fraction of the interest as her previous disc, there's no shortage of speculation that the pop-punk princess's reign could be coming to an end.

"She's having a difficult time making the transition from being a skater girl to being a 27-year-old woman," said Alan Cross, music blogger and host of the syndicated radio show "The Secret History of Rock."

"It's very tough to grow with your audience. ... The next year is going to be very important if she's going to be able to make the transition."

"I mean, she's far from dead. But it may take a little time for the new Avril to take root."

And at this point, it's not exactly clear who the new Avril is.

I had to make the choice, it has been a extremely tough road for me, and as well as my girlfriend financially the past 2 years. We have really gone with out, struggled, bumped heads over choices... but we rage on.
I have been off and on with this clothing line, I want to do so much, but I am reluctant to drop a bunch of cash and then get into a bind.
So I am not going into this as big as I was hoping to, but it will be going strait forward as of NOV... looking at the end of November.

Keith Olbermann, the American television host of the current affairs program Countdown, named Ford as “THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD,” for Oct. 28, 2011 for his botched encounter withThis Hour Has 22 Minutes actor Mary Walsh on Monday, Oct. 24.

Ford was up against some tough competition to earn the title of Worst Person, including Glenn Beck — a regular candidate for the honour — who made fun of a former U.S. marine who served in Iraq. The soldier stood up to some police officers who were being unnecessarily aggressive with Occupy Wall Street protesters and that earned him Beck’s wrath.

Also in the running was a U.K. costume company whose children’s Halloween costumes looks suspiciously like something out of Nazi-occupied Poland.

But, declared Olbermann, it’s Ford who takes the cake.

“When Mayor Ford got inside his house, he called 9-1-1 and swore at the dispatcher because the police were not getting there fast enough,” Oberman said, before reading out part of Ford’s apology letter, which he released to media and posted on Facebook Thursday.

Phil Hartman plaque in Brantford Ontario...

As much as I hated living in Brantford growing up, it had it's pro's and it was just not known for Wayne Gretzky and the Telephone. Jay Silverheels who played Tonto in the Lone Ranger, Scott Wilson and Justine Lukach from "Departures" and many more.

I can remember finding out Hartman was from Brantford at the time of his death. This was extremely sad as Phil was a extremely talented actor/comedian.

The Dubai store is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main road that spans the country, and is one block from The Canadian University of Dubai. You can see the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper, from the restaurant.

The menu is the same as what you'd find here in the Sault, with a few minor differences. There are no Everything Bagels, because they have poppy seeds on them, which are illegal in the UAE due to the fact they contain opium. The menu also features Zaatar Croissants, a local pastry that is filled with herbs.

Apparently Canadians living in Dubai have been mobbing the restaurant since it opened a couple days ago, with lines out the door, turning it into a meeting place for Canucks. Locals, too, are stopping by to see what all the fuss is about, and apparently the Ice Capps are a big seller.

Christmas was formed in 1969 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, out of the ashes of the cult underground psychedelic band Reign Ghost. In July 1970, Christmas released an independent self-titled debut that brought some media attention to the band and a contract with the Daffodil Records label. In December 1970, less than six months after the release of the debut, Christmas released their debut Daffodil Records album entitled Heritage. Christmas was comprised of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Bob Bryden, bass Tyler Raizenne, drummer Rich Richter, and Robert Bulger on guitars, all of whom were still in their teens. The album gathered good reviews and was well received by critics but it was not commercially viable because the long songs and hard rock sound. It became an instant favorite in the underground music scene just about everywhere but in Canada. Despite the international response to the album, Heritage proved to be the last release by the band under the name Christmas due to management problems and difficulty with the direction of the next album. Consequently, Christmas broke up in late 1971 only to resurface the following year, lineup intact, under the name the Spirit of Christmas.

This is a cover of the theme song to the cartoon, Droids. According to Wikipedia, that Internet resource of knowledge that is never wrong*, the song was originally performed by Stewart Copeland of the Police and written by Copeland and Derek Holt.

I do not own the rights to the song, but hey, it's a cover!

I find this song a little hard to sing without using my "growly" voice so instead I opted to attempt some form of harmonizing.

I recorded this entirely on August 15, 2011 using my netbook, Reaper, a Korg Monotribe, Korg Kaoss Pad Quad, Korg Kronos Music Workstation, and a Samson Meteor Mic for the vocals. My band, Cobra, does a cover of this song in our live show whenever our guitarist breaks a string.

Toronto Port Authority Announces First Ever Sail-In Cinema Event

TORONTO, June 27, 2011 /CNW/ - The Toronto Port Authority (TPA), which is celebrating its 100^th anniversary in 2011, announced that it is holding North America's first ever floating movie event, Sail-In Cinema. It will take place from August 18 to 20 in Toronto's Harbour at Sugar Beach.

"The Toronto Port Authority has played a big part at the city's waterfront and waterways for over 100 years," says Geoffrey Wilson President and CEO "We wanted to create an experience that would give something back to the community and allow us to create a closer connection with the people who enjoy it."

The free event will feature a 28 foot two-sided screen so that moviegoers can enjoy water-themed movies in boats or on the mainland.

Movies will start after dusk, at approximately 9pm on each of the three nights.

The TPA is asking the public to recommend movies they'd like to see at the event until July 22. Requests can be sent through Facebook (www.facebook.com/theTPA) or via email to cinema@torontoport.com.

In late July, the TPA will announce movie titles and select one winning entry from these submissions. The winner will receive two airline tickets to anywhere in North America, courtesy of Air Canada. Details about ticketing information will also be available in late July.

The Toronto Port Authority is presenting Sail-In Cinema with the support of its lead partner and waterfront neighbour Redpath Sugar, and media sponsor Q107. Other supporters include Toronto Star, Pier 27 by Cityzen Development and Fernbrook Homes, and creative and media innovation firm, Birthplace Inc.

I always wished I had a boat, like A big ass one I can live on... and watch movies!
I heard the rumor that the first flick will be "Finding Nemo" but I can think of a few other water themed movies I much rather watch JAWS, The Abyss, and the Poseidon adventure.
I think it would be fitting for Jaws because the movie just had its 36 year anniversary, one of my top 3 movies of all time!!
I am also a big fan of the drive in, so there is a good chance I may be at sugar beach... but sadly on land, unless I win the lotto.

Starting a biz is costly, and when you want to put a product into the market place depending on the situation it can be time consuming and burn holes in the wallet.

I paid off a crap load of debit in the past year, yet my girlfriend is co-owner of film company and that has put a big financial strain on both of us. I cannot justify dropping $300 on say 2000 shirt tags, and then say $1000 bucks on 500 shirts knowing I got bills, groceries, and all that shit.

Anyways... enough of the dumb shit...

My brother saw on my facebook I am planning on moving the launch date to late winter/early spring and was not impressed. I had to explain to him, Vince and I are busy and pre-occupied with work, side projects and such. So we talked and he is interested to jump on board to do 3 things...

One being to help me with some financial ease, we plan to split the cost to make things more easy for us.

Also Craig is A very good artist, he has his own unique style that has won him contests and has done some commissioned work for people. So good chance we will see some of his designs on clothing.

Also he brings a lot of connections with people one of these connections owns a state of the art print shop, more on that down the road.

Also he is interested in bringing a very talented tattoo artist on board...

Not dropping names, or stores... but check his work below!!

The thing I like about having blood opposed to a friend dealing with money is we do not hold back or beat around the bush. Plus we were raised not to screw each other over... plus our Mother would kick our asses if we did.

Help put a stop to SHARK FIN soup...

I have loved sharks ever since I was a child, I was obsessed. I think I may have been the only child to watch Jaws and get excited when he appeared on screen. Jaws was like superman to me, the hero of the movie. Unfortunately for the most part the majority of the viewers thought differently and sharks were hunted and killed. When 101 Dalmatians was released every kid wanted that dog, when Jaws was released... everyone wanted to kill a shark. These poor big fish have a very important role in the world’s oceans and maintaining a symbiotic roll with all life on the planet.

I have been to many Chinese functions that included shark fin soup as one of the dishes. I politely declined, only because I know what was done to the shark, but I had no idea the mass slaughter that is happening around the world.

So now 2 city councilors along with my hero and documentary film director Rob Stewart (Who is born and raised in Toronto) are collecting 10,000 signatures to eliminate shark fin soup in the city.

Incase you don't know who Rob Stewart is; he made a beautiful and informative documentary called SHARK WATER. You cannot help loving sharks and wanting to help them after watching this movie.

If two city councillors get their way, shark fin, a known Chinese delicacy may be wiped off restaurant menus in Toronto by the end of this year.

Councillors Glenn De Baeremaeker and Kristyn Wong-Tam gathered the press yesterday to outline details of the proposed ban of the sale, possession and consumption of shark fins within the city of Toronto and to announce the launch of the Celebrate Sharks Summer Tour, an initiative aimed at gathering support from the community with a 10,000 signature petition.

“I think this is a global problem. We’re offering a global solution,” said De Baeremaeker. “I feel very confident that come this Christmas, you won’t be able to buy shark fin soup in the city of Toronto.”

The unethical practice of shark finning and the dwindling shark population have raised concerns within the community.

Judson Chiu, head of the Shark Savers branch in Toronto, was at the press conference in support of the proposed ban on shark fins.

As a member of the Chinese community and a strong advocate for the ban of shark fins in Toronto, Chiu says the consumption of shark fin is not a matter of tradition, but a lifestyle decision based on the knowledge and consequences of the practice.

“In Toronto, I found that we are actually less progressive. People in Hong Kong have already started to realize this issue,” says Chiu. “For instance, my cousin who just had her wedding last week, she didn’t serve shark fin soup. It’s not a disgrace, it’s a lifestyle choice.”

While shark fin may be known as a Chinese delicacy, Chiu says that he has been surprised by the support they have received within the community.

“I guess it’s easier for people of Asian descent to sort of feel some kind of connection with the issue.

It’s not really an Asian issue but it does affect the Asian community.”

Anyways, Peters we all know is a brilliant comedian and has brought together everyone under one roof to tease, prod and have a good time with.
Now, after watching a clip from the George Lopez show I was stunned to see Peters get down on the ones and twos (turntables for the lamers) and wreck shop!
Being a former turntablist myself you know who is weak, who is meh (me) and those who are dope, Peters is dope hands down.

The City of Toronto has renamed a park in Etobicoke in honour of jazz and blues great Jeff Healey.

Woodford Park, on Delroy Drive in the Queensway and Royal York Road area, is in the area where three generations of the Healey family — including Jeff — lived.

Healey grew up in Etobicoke and played in the park, both as a teenager and as a father with his own young children.

And Jeff's wife Cristie says the park was a key part of the Healey family.

"It's the park that not only Jeff grew up playing in but also his father grew up playing in, and now it's going to have the Healey name on it. It's a wonderful thing for the Healey family …" Cristie said. "I think it is really a fitting way to remember Jeff because he really was at heart a family person and Woodford Park and Bonnyview (Drive) were home to him
always."

So, what have you been up to these days?

Vanessa- I've had a really great year so far. I've been really busy working on a few projects that are very different than what I've been involved in in the past so I'm really excited to see how everything turns out.

Can you tell us a bit about these projects, or is it a big secret?

Vanessa- For sure! I've been focusing on my acting this year and i was pretty lucky to land a role in a horror film called FM Andy. I also starred in a music video for a song by Deadmau5. Right now I'm broadcasting the news once a week.

What was FM Andy like?

Vanessa- It was really great, it was my very first film and my first time working with a smaller cast and crew. The dynamic of the experience was very different compared to a large crew. I had a great time working on it. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to tell you about it but I will say I look wonderfully creepy. I always wanted to be part of a horror movie, I always thought i'd be a scream queen but this role was even better!

And the Deadmau5 video, can you tell us a bit about that?

Vanessa- Well that was something that had been discussed for a while and finally came together. Play Records approached me with an idea and we decided to go for it. I play a cleaning lady turned sexy dancer. It's a club video but with some very sexy and trippy visuals. We filmed overnight and everyone was pretty beat but it was still alot of fun.

So you're new at broadcasting, is it something you could see yourself doing long term?

Vanessa- I've always wanted to try a bit of everything whether it comes to my career or just learning about different things. I dont want to label myself as an actress or model or broadcaster, I feel that i'm an entertainer as a whole and want to have expereince in everything. Broadcasting is very different from anything I've done before. That teleprompter has owned me several times it's tricky to read off of.

Is there anything we should be looking out for you in that's out right now?

Vanessa- I'm pretty sure my two episodes of Urban Legends is airing now on the history channel as well as Lingerie and Body Language on HBO... Oh yeah and the deftones video for 'you've seen the butcher'. I dont watch tv so I'm never sure of when things come out

That's funny, you work in television but don't watch it?

Vanessa-I dont watch it much at all lately. I watch more movies than I do television because I have the option of pausing the movie and picking it up later... my schedules been a bit busier than usual lately.

Is there anything you'd like to try in the entertainment industry that you haven't gotten to experience yet?

Vanessa- There's lots, the list is really never ending. I really want to try comedy, scripted and stand up that would be a dream come true. I'd also like to be an on air personality I'm pretty quick on the spot so i think that would be a really great thing to try. I'd also like to try voice acting, for a cartoon or video game sometime.

Apparently the store closed its doors back in early April, this is quite a shock to me, and I am pretty bummed about it.

I use to work pretty close to this store about 10 years ago and would spend my lunch hour flipping threw records. In my old DJ days I was always on the hunt for strange and bizarre records which they had plenty of. I could count on them to have something I wanted to watch on DVD at a reasonable price opposed to the big box stores. If I wanted to find some old school kung fu flicks or some b-movie sci-fi they would have it, or something related that I would enjoy.

You could not help but stop in front of that store and spend a few minutes looking at the window display. They always had toy robots, sci-fi actions figures, board games and a shit load of nostalgic memrobelia. I can remember standing with friends in front of the store even when it was closed and talking about the display window.

Even inside was a trip down memory lane , being a kid of the 70s and the 80s this place took you back.

But the way things go now, demand for such things has become less and less. That to me is sad, we are just accepting what the big corporations feed us.

I shall miss the place...

I am not really a fan of current bands, nothing really moves me to be truthful. I find it sounds like someone else, it has been done before or it just sounds really bad. But once in a while a band will come by and just rock my socks off.
That band was DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979... I just love them. A lot of music snobs, especially from the Toronto area always seemed to slam these guys.
I for one enjoy what they do, I was bent out of shape when they called it quits.
Well no news yet if they are getting back together... yet this new photo shows some progress.
Saw these guys once before Jesse had that killer mustache, my ears still ring!

I have had the privliledge to actually meet Skullman twice at networking parties that Rattailfilms had put on. I first saw Skullman on SPACE the imagination station talking about BOXWARS and I knew this guy had something going that was really bad ass!!
So threw the magic powers of facebook we started talking, and the rest is history.
He did tell me a while back that a movie was being made about him... and it looks like it's going to be at cannes 2011!
I did talk to Skullman with out the mask, I called him Greg, he signed my copy of BOXWARS on dvd... Can't say enough good stuff about this guy!

Deadmau5 video shoot for "Lai"

This was my first video shoot for grammy nominated and Juno award winning artist "Deadmau5" pronounced "Dead mouse".
The question I have been asked most was he at the video shoot, and no he was not. Present at the shoot was actress/ model/ dancer Vanessa Lai, singer, songwriter, performance artist, diva Melleny Melody, production company Rattailfilms and many more.
We started filming roughly about 3am, I thought I was going to pass out but the excitement and energy got me pumped. We had lots of coffee and Redbull to keep people going, I passed on that. Like I said, I was feeling purely energetic and I surprised myself with my stamina.
Everyone worked extremely hard and we had such a good time filming this. I was totally impressed with Jim Primrose and Jamie Carswell's professionalism and how they made this a fun video shoot while burning that midnight oil.
Vanessa Lai is the star of the video, like always she worked very hard.
Plus all the dancers, make up artist, even the security guard who stuck around all night were troopers.
The video should be out in a few weeks, I am sure you will all get a kick out of it...

Greasers VS Socs, a costume Shindig!

On any given Friday night, you can walk in to almost any bar in Toronto and have a good time. There are soo many great parties, amazing D.J.s and talented bands in this city that it's hard t0 get bored. There is always something for everyone. In fact, on the first Friday of every month in the basement of College Street's hottest new venue, Crawford, you can transport yourself, fifty (50) years back in time and dance your ass off to DJs playing all original Jump Blues, Rockabilly, Northern Soul, Motown and R&B 7" 45RPM records from the late 1950s and early 1960s! To top it off, on May 6th, 2011 they are turning it into a costume Party!

If you, like me, were a fan of the 1967 novel by S.E Hinton "The Outsiders", then you're gonna love this! The theme for this particular costume party is Greasers VS. Socs. The later is pronounced "sohshes" for those that haven't seen the classic Francis Ford Coppola film version starring Ralph Machio, Matt Dillon, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze and Diane Lane. Go see it, you'll be glad you did! Once, you've seen the film or read the book, you'll be excited to get your Pomade Pompadour primed and your Dad's leather jacket or letterman sweater out of the closet and rush on down to Crawford for the first in a series of 1950s costume parties being held there on the first Friday of every month.

The party's called Shindig! Named for a short lived ABC television show from theearly 1960s hosted by Los Angeles Disc Jockey, Jimmy O'Neill. They even use the same logo! I could go on about pop culture references of Shindig from the Ramones to the Flintstones but none of that really matters. What matters is, this is the only party of its kind in Toronto, that I know of, and it's a guaranteed good time!

I remember years ago in my early 20s wanting to go watch wrestling at the Sky dome and nobody would go with me. So I forgot about it and went to hang out with some college friends. None of these guys were into wrestling, I think they thought it was below them to watch such things. I didn’t care, I loved wrestling but I never bored them with details of the current story lines. I was shocked when one one guy asked us if we wanted to go watch wrestling! Some people didn’t even look his way, I was curious and had to ask why. He told me he knew one of the wrestlers and he was just starting out, he referred to him as Adam. I remember reading in the Toronto star wrestling column about Adam Copeland and they said with in a few years watch for this guy to be a major contender in the game.

They announce Edge is from Toronto but he is really from a small town called Orangeville, that is how this friend of mine new him, they worked together as teens in a grocery store. He told me Adam was a real hardcore wrestling fan ever since he knew him.

So now I had someone to talk wrestling with, well just Adam Copeland stories. I remember a bunch of us walking to a convenience store and picking up a WWF magazine with Edge and Christian with the titles on the cover and showing him. His eyes would widen and he would look dumbfounded and say things like "I can remember when he put me in headlocks"

As time went on, all the friends went there separate ways and I don’t know if my friend still followed Adam's illustrious career, as Adam won several titles including the World Heavyweight championship 11 times!

I had the chance to see Adam aka EDGE wrestle several times, he always was extremely entertaining and never had a boring match. I had read a few months back that he wanted to retire but in Toronto, maybe by next year. Unfortunately due to some several medical issues, he had to retire pretty much right away.

Very sad to hear, he was one of the most talented guys currently in the game.

Seeing me onstage instead of behind a DJ booth is suuuper rare. But it has been known to happen and you can see for yourself this Saturday April 9th at The Hard Luck Bar (812 Dundas St. W.). It's my good pal Tina Sixx & the lovely Allison Wood's Birthday party and there are a bunch of awesome bands playing the festivities. I'm playing guitar alongside Tina in a one off reunion of the band Fresh Meat which is sure to be a blast.

If you want to come out, doors are at 8pm, Fresh Meat's on at 9pm. It's 19+, $5. There will be cupcakes and party hats. Hats!

Mena Hardy, Toronto's Miss Southern Rock

Hey y'all!

Looking for a good ol' time here in Toronto? Mena Hardy's bringing her own brand of new southern rock to Toronto for all y'all to hear. She will be interviewed on CKLN's 88.1fm this Sunday between 1pm and 4pm.

She will be talking about her upcoming gigs this month, a solo gig on the 16th at Noah's Ark on 2777 Danforth Avenue between 4pm and 6:30pm, and one with her band on the 23rd at Axis Gallery and Grill on 3048 Dundas West corner Keele at 10pm.

She will also be discussing her upcoming EP and how the first recorded track was licensed to a Canadian TV show called Biker TV.

Hope to see you at one of her upcoming shows or tune in on Sunday to Ryerson's college radio 88.1fm.

HEAVY METAL KINGS is not a Canadian band but the video director is, Tom has done some serious videos for some serious artist.
Also... if you are at work or got kids around... not a good time to play it, language and some scenes are questionable. Im not hating on this, it is a great video, but your Boss may not think so!
Hype stuff!
Tom is one of the most gifted and growing directors in Toronto in my opinion, be on the look out!!

This is my girlfriends and good friend Jim Primrose film company. I help out when I can by telling people about the company, getting people to come out, shoot videos and such.
I just got a update from Jim and my girlfriend confirmed it...

"Rattailfilms has been asked to shoot behind the scenes for the feature film, Silent Hill3D...."

That is pretty damn cool!

I know the last one was filmed mostly in Brantford Ontario, all I could find out so far was "Production was delayed when a freak snowstorm hit the set in Cambridge, Ontario on 23 March 2011."
From what I have read is that principal photography has also started in Toronto.

My honest opinion on movies based on video games is pretty low, Street Fighter, Mario Brothers, Double Dragon plus many more were all terrible. I would say SILENT HILL is exempt from that list... I thought the movie was pretty freaky. You didn't even really have to play the game to enjoy this movie.
Looking forward to the movie but mostly looking forward to seeing Rattailfilms expanding and moving forward!

Phil Hartman plaque in Brantford Ontario...

As much as I hated living in Brantford growing up, it had it's pro's and it was just not known for Wayne Gretzky and the Telephone. Jay Silverheels who played Tonto in the Lone Ranger, Scott Wilson and Justine Lukach from "Departures" and many more.

I can remember finding out Hartman was from Brantford at the time of his death. This was extremely sad as Phil was a extremely talented actor/comedian.
