I have met Mr. Zero from THE KINGS a few times, very nice and down to earth guy. The photo below is Jim Primrose from Rattailfilms along with my girlfriend Cindy Choy also co-owner of the company. That is me in the back looking like I have a abscessed tooth... cuz I did. The back wall is artist animator Jen hardy, actress Sarah Butcher and Angela Vanderwal who has acting parts on Melrose place and the T.V. series THE DEAD ZONE.

Update with Vanessa Lai...

So, what have you been up to these days?

Vanessa- I've had a really great year so far. I've been really busy working on a few projects that are very different than what I've been involved in in the past so I'm really excited to see how everything turns out.


Can you tell us a bit about these projects, or is it a big secret?

Vanessa- For sure! I've been focusing on my acting this year and i was pretty lucky to land a role in a horror film called FM Andy. I also starred in a music video for a song by Deadmau5. Right now I'm broadcasting the news once a week.


What was FM Andy like?

Vanessa- It was really great, it was my very first film and my first time working with a smaller cast and crew. The dynamic of the experience was very different compared to a large crew. I had a great time working on it. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to tell you about it but I will say I look wonderfully creepy. I always wanted to be part of a horror movie, I always thought i'd be a scream queen but this role was even better!

And the Deadmau5 video, can you tell us a bit about that?

Vanessa- Well that was something that had been discussed for a while and finally came together. Play Records approached me with an idea and we decided to go for it. I play a cleaning lady turned sexy dancer. It's a club video but with some very sexy and trippy visuals. We filmed overnight and everyone was pretty beat but it was still alot of fun.

 So you're new at broadcasting, is it something you could see yourself doing long term?

Vanessa- I've always wanted to try a bit of everything whether it comes to my career or just learning about different things. I dont want to label myself as an actress or model or broadcaster, I feel that i'm an entertainer as a whole and want to have expereince in everything. Broadcasting is very different from anything I've done before. That teleprompter has owned me several times it's tricky to read off of.


Is there anything we should be looking out for you in that's out right now?

Vanessa- I'm pretty sure my two episodes of Urban Legends is airing now on the history channel as well as Lingerie and Body Language on HBO... Oh yeah and the deftones video for 'you've seen the butcher'. I dont watch tv so I'm never sure of when things come out


That's funny, you work in television but don't watch it?

Vanessa-I dont watch it much at all lately. I watch more movies than I do television because I have the option of pausing the movie and picking it up later... my schedules been a bit busier than usual lately.

Is there anything you'd like to try in the entertainment industry that you haven't gotten to experience yet?

Vanessa- There's lots, the list is really never ending. I really want to try comedy, scripted and stand up that would be a dream come true. I'd also like to be an on air personality I'm pretty quick on the spot so i think that would be a really great thing to try. I'd also like to try voice acting, for a cartoon or video game sometime.

Deadmau5 video shoot for "Lai"

This was my first video shoot for grammy nominated and Juno award winning artist "Deadmau5" pronounced "Dead mouse".
The question I have been asked most was he at the video shoot, and no he was not.  Present at the shoot was actress/ model/ dancer Vanessa Lai, singer, songwriter, performance artist, diva Melleny Melody, production company Rattailfilms  and many more.
We started filming roughly about 3am, I thought I was going to pass out but the excitement and energy got me pumped. We had  lots of coffee and Redbull to keep people going, I passed on that. Like I said, I was feeling purely energetic and I surprised myself with my stamina.
Everyone worked extremely hard and we had such a good time filming this. I was totally impressed with Jim Primrose and Jamie Carswell's professionalism and how they made this a fun video shoot while burning that midnight oil.
Vanessa Lai is the star of the video, like always she worked very hard.
Plus all the dancers, make up artist, even the security guard who stuck around all night were troopers.
The video should be out in a few weeks, I am sure you will all get a kick out of it...

News from RATTAILFILMS...

This is my girlfriends and good friend Jim Primrose film company. I help out when I can by telling people about the company, getting people to come out, shoot videos and such.
I just got a update from Jim and my girlfriend confirmed it...


"Rattailfilms has been asked to shoot behind the scenes for the feature film, Silent Hill3D...."


That is pretty damn cool!


I know the last one was filmed mostly in Brantford Ontario, all I could find out so far was  "Production was delayed when a freak snowstorm hit the set in Cambridge, Ontario on 23 March 2011."
From what I have read is that principal photography has also started in Toronto.


My honest opinion on movies based on video games is pretty low, Street Fighter, Mario Brothers, Double Dragon plus many more were all terrible. I would say SILENT HILL is exempt from that list... I thought the movie was pretty freaky. You didn't even really have to play the game to enjoy this movie.
Looking forward to the movie but mostly looking forward to seeing Rattailfilms expanding and moving forward!

Rattailfilms ... film studio and rental equipment.

Rattailfilms has a very interesting story behind it, let just say they have the equipment to make their own movie about how they started.

William Primrose use to own a successful air conditioning company, until Dec 01 2001 when he was in a serious car accident that resulted in memory loss.

This changed Will, he walked away for it all and started painting on canvas, painting masterpieces almost day and night. He took up residence above A store and eventually he had enough paintings to open a studio.

During this metamorphose of his life, he was introduced to Cindy Choy another artist who at the time was working in a warehouse and graduated collage as a computer programmer.

They quickly became friends and opened A Art studio know as "THE UNDERGROUND GALLERY"

The gallery sadly closed its doors as it was plagued with a unjust and moronic landlord.

From there they kept in touch, and Jim who is middle aged did what a lot of us wish we could do...go back to school. He attended O.C.A.D which is the Ontario collage of art and design.

He studied integrated media and was one of the top students in all of his classes.

From there he wanted to make his own films, his first was called "Otis" which was a very interesting film which involved veteran puppeteer Gord Robertson. Gord has worked along side Jim Henson and has been a puppeteer in several big budgeted Hollywood films. Gord actually used a hand made original "Muppet" made for this shoot.

Cindy was also called on to do "Make up" for the film, Will Figured if she can paint, she could put on make up, and she did and did it well.

So from there Will was hungry for more, with a bunch of other film projects floating around he came up with the ingenious idea of renting film equipment as one whole package in one truck at one low price. Nobody was doing that, and it was a success with independent film makers and musicians. Cindy was asked to jump on board as co-owner and together they opened RATTAILFILMS.

From the truck and small studio inside of a garage they converted a old nail factory into a movie studio.

They have shot several videos, commercials and even do networking parties which I have attended. They welcome artists, bands, film students, directors, people in the industry to come by for a visit, get familiar with the owners and the studio.

Welcome to the 1st post...

This is the blog known as ONTARIO - YOURS TO UNCOVER. We have so much talent in this great province and it needs to be known. We need to spread the good word of our artistic talents who live amongst us!

I have come across a lot of talented people over the years, everyone from screen printers, to turntablist, to comic book artist to video producers. They have done a lot for me, so why not try and give back to them.

I also want to give exposure to all the talent we have, if it helps people get noticed, if it gets more people to show up at there venue, if it gets people to download a track off itunes... here you go!

I like to call this lil movement O.A.K. (Ontario Artistic Kinship)

I have met Skullman, and have talked to him more then once...Skullman is great in person yet a total destructive force on the battlefield!

The middle on the left is my good friend William Primrose of Rattailfilms along with video producer Phil Sportel. Will is co-owner of this company along with my girlfriend Cindy Choy.
