merican media is making note of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford — for all the wrong reasons.
Keith Olbermann, the American television host of the current affairs program Countdown, named Ford as “THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD,” for Oct. 28, 2011 for his botched encounter withThis Hour Has 22 Minutes actor Mary Walsh on Monday, Oct. 24.
Ford was up against some tough competition to earn the title of Worst Person, including Glenn Beck — a regular candidate for the honour — who made fun of a former U.S. marine who served in Iraq. The soldier stood up to some police officers who were being unnecessarily aggressive with Occupy Wall Street protesters and that earned him Beck’s wrath.
Also in the running was a U.K. costume company whose children’s Halloween costumes looks suspiciously like something out of Nazi-occupied Poland.
But, declared Olbermann, it’s Ford who takes the cake.
“When Mayor Ford got inside his house, he called 9-1-1 and swore at the dispatcher because the police were not getting there fast enough,” Oberman said, before reading out part of Ford’s apology letter, which he released to media and posted on Facebook Thursday.
