Adam Copeland AKA "Edge" retires as WWE champion due to medical reasons...

I remember years ago in my early 20s wanting to go watch wrestling at the Sky dome and nobody would go with me. So I forgot about it and went to hang out with some college friends. None of these guys were into wrestling, I think they thought it was below them to watch such things. I didn’t care, I loved wrestling but I never bored them with details of the current story lines. I was shocked when one one guy asked us if we wanted to go watch wrestling! Some people didn’t even look his way, I was curious and had to ask why. He told me he knew one of the wrestlers and he was just starting out, he referred to him as Adam. I remember reading in the Toronto star wrestling column about Adam Copeland and they said with in a few years watch for this guy to be a major contender in the game.
They announce Edge is from Toronto but he is really from a small town called Orangeville, that is how this friend of mine new him, they worked together as teens in a grocery store. He told me Adam was a real hardcore wrestling fan ever since he knew him.
So now I had someone to talk wrestling with, well just Adam Copeland stories. I remember a bunch of us walking to a convenience store and picking up a WWF magazine with Edge and Christian with the titles on the cover and showing him. His eyes would widen and he would look dumbfounded and say things like "I can remember when he put me in headlocks"
As time went on, all the friends went there separate ways and I don’t know if my friend still followed Adam's illustrious career, as Adam won several titles including the World Heavyweight championship 11 times!
I had the chance to see Adam aka EDGE wrestle several times, he always was extremely entertaining and never had a boring match. I had read a few months back that he wanted to retire but in Toronto, maybe by next year. Unfortunately due to some several medical issues, he had to retire pretty much right away.
Very sad to hear, he was one of the most talented guys currently in the game.
Enjoy your ice cream dude!

My interview with Toronto electronic musician "Luna Seaux"

Keef- Please do tell us who you are and what you do?

Luna - I guess I could say that I am a pianist, composer, music producer, and student of music.
I am still studying and learning as always.
I started playing the piano at the age of 2, Beethoven and Mozart were my earliest favorites.
Mainly, I improvise a lot on the piano, and write piano pieces and I write my other stuff on my mac.
I produce and write my own music, but sometimes I help produce other musicians as well.

Keef- I have spent a while on soundcloud checking all your music. I especially liked "fate cheating ghost in the mirror" and "45kg of existence"
I find electronic music has way too many genres, its IDM, its breakcore, its glitch... forget classifying it, just describe to us what your music is and the sound you create.

  45kg of existence by LUNASEAUX

Luna- Thank you for checking out my stuff, I really sincerely appreciate it.
As I have mentioned earlier, I grew up with classical music, and when I was about 14 I fell in love with reggae and hip-hop,
I was also a huge fan of brit pop/rock. I used to break dance and tried to freestyle too. haha
Then I got into the whole punk/hardcore scene eventually. I taught myself how to play the guitar, and I got my first guitar
from a friend. It's a 80s Japanese metal guitar by Jackson. A lot people laughed at me, and most of people didn't take me seriously because I was a girl, and this offended me greatly. After playing a show at school as a bassist and vocal, I eventually got over Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious, that's when I discovered "Atari Teenage Riot", a band I respect the most.

As I am answering this, I am listening to their legendary album "Live At Brixton Academy 1999". I first bought "60 second wipe out" and I was totally blown away, not only because I haven't heard anything like this before, but the noise production by Nic Endo   had such a huge impact on me. I eventually got to listen to her solo album "White Heat" and I discovered a whole new world. At that time I didn't know anything about electronic music at all, I didn't know how people created it let alone who else was making electronic music. Neither did I ever know I would be making this kind of music years later!
The reason why I am mentioning a bit of my music history here is because I am not into music for its kind, but rather for what it is. I do not classify between genres, let alone intend to make certain genre. I do sometimes think 'okay, I better add some rap to this one', but it has never turned out as a "hip-hop" or "rap" .

If I like what I hear, then it's great music- it's quite simple that way. sometimes I hear people telling me 'this sound like this' and that really surprises me, because I work with the sound and image that's in my mind and when the work is complete, I do not think about "okay, this is glitchcore" or something. I make what I make, and when it's done it's done.

I do make fun of my own music for not being able to fit into any genres actually.. some words I use to describe my music are "lunaticore" (because my name is Luna) "randomcore" (because I sample random noises and riffs and orchestrate them) or "yabaikore" (yabai means "radical" or "dangerous" in Japanese language)

Keef- How long have you been making music ?

Luna -I seriously can not remember how long I have been making music... I do remember quitting playing the piano when I was 13 but I have resumed my studies and practices about 3 years ago, even when I quit the piano, I still wrote songs on the piano, and sang as well.

As for electronic music I think it has been almost 4 years now. I started out when I moved to a small town, I was bored out of my mind and I had no friends whatsoever, so I started to play around with sounds and effects and eventually made my first song called "Infinite Zer0"
Infinite Zer0 (MRIC RMX) by LUNASEAUX

Surprisingly I got real good responses so, I started keep on making tracks, then I released my first album called "KAMIKAKUSHI" and an EP called "Prepared Razor". After that it became kind of my thing.

Keef -Where do you see your music going down the road, and where would you like to see your music go?

Luna- I plan to study and learn, I feel there is a lot of things that I don't know about. I am a very curious person, and I want to get to know all kinds of music that was ever made.

The two things in life, that I am mostly passionate about is music and film, I want to write film scores eventually. I also want to play the piano as well, and I have a whole stage set-up in my head already, but I'd like to improve myself further before I start. My goal is to become a versatile musician and work with various people from various industries.

I want to make music for films, animes, even soap operas, and also for fashion shows! I am not anti anything, I want to be involved with all forms of art.

Keef-What is the deal with Lativia?

Luna -I realized for a week or so, Latvia was the place where most of my listeners were from, so I started out saying I should tour around Latvia as a joke. It would be really cool if I could but as of now, I can't tour due to health and finance reasons.

Keef -Thank you for your Time Luna, I love what you are doing. I hope to see you opening for Atari Teenage Riot, or doing some music with Nic Endo in the near future.

My on-line interview with THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS

My girlfriend one day out of the blue asked me if I have ever heard of "THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS" and I no I did not. She knows I love Hip Hop, and she knows I am very picky with my music, but she told me to look him up. I went on to Youtube and I found his video, his song "Good Time" was catchy as hell, and the video had me laughing. The video is pretty funny, but what got me the most was... it was all shot with in walking distance from my house!

I put in a friend request on facebook, and we have been chatting ever since. From what I can tell just by talking to him is he is one extremely dedicated individual with a goal. You can bet sooner or later THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS... will be a house hold name!

We begin...

KEEF - So how did you get the name "IdentityCrisis" and describe your sound.

The iDENTiTY CRiSiS- When I was first starting out, I really didn't know what category to file my music under. It was too urban to be rock, and too rock to be urban. And on top of that, I was sprinkling in other sounds, and refusing to fit into any one particular genre. The name "THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS" really represents my approach to making music, taking bits and pieces of different genres and decades; it's become my signature sound, blending things that might not belong together, but I try to make it work seamlessly.

KEEF-Your music is quite colorful and interesting, who were some of your influences?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS-My influences are all over the map. I particularly like artists that have unique sounds: the Police, Beck, Outkast, n.e.r.d., Black Eyed Peas, the Doors, Soundgarden, a Tribe Called Quest, Nirvana, Everlast, Incubus and the Wu-Tang Clan to name a handful. I could go on for hours!

KEEF- I was going to say your work reminds me of BECKS Mellow Gold and Odelay, not so much the sound but the versatility involved. Same with Everlast, I am a huge Everlast fan, his album WHITEY FORD SINGS THE BLUES was so popular with me and others. I think it was because he switched up the styles and was not afraid to go places other artist wouldn't dare... would you say your more of a risk taker that way?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS -Ya "Whitey Ford" and "Odelay" are two of my favourite albums of ALL TIME...to be mentioned in the same breath as those two artists/albums is flattering. I definitely would say that I'm a risk taker. That's part of my schtick as well...I do things my way, like it or not! I think it's definitely part of the reason why I haven't blown up yet!

KEEF - If your album had its own category in a record shop, what would you call the category?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS-I would probably call it "hybrid" or something along those lines.

KEEF - What artists have you worked with on your albums?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - featured some amazing up and coming artists on past records: Kofi Kain (rapper/singer from Brampton), Ricky Tillo (current guitarist for Lady Gaga), Cess Rock (rapper/producer from Mississauga) and my sister Lolita (singer/rapper) I've got plans to feature some established names on my upcoming album (due out in November 2010) including Kyprios (of Sweatshop Union), and Dave Baksh (from Sum41, Brown Brigade), as well as a slew of other underground and established artists. Hopefully it all comes together.

Keef -That's amazing, I love "Sweatshop Union", you have to point me out to some of these people, great blog content. What about artist you would love to collaborate with?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - My dream artists to work with would be Busta Rhymes, Dave Grohl, Bon Jovi, and Paul Anka! They say to dream big...

Keef- You mentioned your sister did some work with you, is your family into music?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - Yes! I believe music is definitely genetic. My father was a guitarist, vocalist, and harmonica player. He actually left me his acoustic and his harmonica as heir looms when he passed away in 1988. My mother is a piano player and an alto vocalist. My sister is a singer/rapper/songwriter/piano player, and my step dad is a singer as well.

Keef - My dad is a drummer, I think he was hoping I would follow in his steps. I ended up buying turntables instead... it was very confusing for my parents. One thing about turntables was it got expensive, buying battle records, special needles, not to mention I was always "diggin in the crates" spending hours and lots of money on rare records. You financed your albums by yourself, was that a struggle?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS -Yes I financed, and continue to finance my albums and career all by myself. It's definitely an uphill battle, but it's kinda the way I want things to be. I enjoy having the creative control, with no boss. Ideally I would love to find a financer that believes in my product so much that I can continue to do things the way I want to, and not have to work a day job. But I'm blessed to be able to do what I do right now. And having financial problems definitely forces me to be extra creative with marketing, as well with the actual music itself.

Keef - Tell me more about the Mississauga Arts council. Can any one go to this to watch?

I saw this on your youtube page, it looked very entertaining.

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - The Mississauga Arts Council is a network for all artists from all art-forms. They put on a monthly OPEN MIC night for performing artists, and anybody can perform/spectate. For more information check out mississaugaartscouncil.com

Keef - what does the Identity crisis have in store for 2011?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - Hopefully in 2011, I'll still be doing what I'm doing. Season 4 of EQOTW, 4th solo album, and reaching more and more people with my brand of entertainment. I'd love to be doing this on a much larger scale!

Keef- I am pretty new to the whole iDENTiTY CRiSiS sound, I need to get all your stuff and have it signed!

I am going to say a few things, and you give me your first reactions...

KEEF- CANADIAN HIPHOP?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- big talent, small audience

KEEF- Facebook?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- Myspace's uglier, younger, annoying stepbrother.

KEEF- T-shirts?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- my obsession.

KEEF-THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- jack of all trades, master of some.

Keef- The best thing ever?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS - bacon and eggs, bowling, green tea, MMA, pro wrestling, hot girls that drunk dial.

Keef - The worst thing ever?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- ugly girls that drunk dial.

Keef- My music is?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- for open minded people.

Keef - DOPE... good stuff, this was fun... you got some shout outs?

THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS- Bigups to Spazotron, keep doin your thang! Shoutouts to Kofi Kain, Ricky Tillo, Cess Rock, Miss Angie, Fee-nom, Rose, Ranko and Jax Photography, Monroe, and all my peeps that are hustlin to make it happen! And all my fans worldwide...you smell a little bit, but you all taste like bacon...I love bacon!whaddup to True Fantasy Clothing and DJ Richie Sweet, and my Cousin Kevin!

Interview with rising Hip Hop artist... FLO!

This is my 1st online interview for this blog, and I would like to introduce everyone to Pictons own “FLO”

Keef- Whats up flo?

Flo- SUP!

KEEF – 1st off how did you get into hiphop and how did you get the name FLO?

Flo - I use call myself ”Backwordz” and I didn’t like it, so I went with WhiteFlo, then dropped the white, and kept Flo, its how I spit… with flow! I got into hip hop about 6 years ago, I was 15 writing rhymes free styling over beats. I was about 18 when I recorded my 1st song with Static the mic addict in Canmore Alberta.

Keef- How did you hook up with Static?

Flo- I got to know him threw my job, I was painting a hostel, he was working there also. He said he was doing the local open mic, I was stoked because he was like my idol because he was doing it!
Shows, writing, recording and we just ended up doing my 1st recorded track, “POCKETS”
Then I tore my Acl And Meniscus in my knee while skateboarding.
That brought me back to Ontario and I met this guy who goes by the name of
‘Illest Marx” who at the time lived in my home town of Picton.

KEEF- So what happened from there.

Flo- I freestyled for him and blew him away, and from there I became his protégé. He took me to DC STUDIOS located in Picton where he was signed. I showed up and freestyled and they were like WTF! They loved it and from there I signed with DC, and they help me get this far so far. I got to give a big thanks to “Alex the Heist Herst” my producer, he has helped me out a lot. Also DJ Lone Ronnin, he has shown me different styles I did not listen to before like Brother Ali, Slug, indi stuff. I was caught up in Eminem, Pac and Lil’Wayne

KEEF- Yo, no offence but I hate Lil Wayne, you ever listen to LA COKA NOSTRA?

Flo- Nope, but I will be checkin it now, I am so open to the new.

Keef- Who is your favorite Canadian M.C.’s

Flo- Choclair, Spesh K, Wordburglar, Mr. Burns, Classified, BIG UPS!

Keef- Yeah Wordburglar is dope!
So where do you see yourself in a few years, still involved in music?

Flo- I hope to be doing more shows, more CD’s, I think the name FLO will be well known in Ontario.

Keef- Well this is why I made this blog, to get people like yourself noticed.

Flo- I want to be heard.

Keef – To tell you the truth, I HATE so much Hip Hop right now. I was on facebook and WORDBURGLAR posted your video. I was like “What is this low budgeted shit?” It started up and I was like “YO HE GOT SOME SKILLS!”

Flo- thanks man, I aint got a dime, but I grind, I do what I can do, and what I can.

Keef- it’s the struggle, I respect that!

Flo- I hope for one day it to be a jiffy, and I can just run with it, NO STRESS!

KEEF- Well the song is very catchy!

Flo – great track, one of my best!

Keef- thanks Flo, all the best!

Flo- Peace!

In closing, FLO has the potential to go places with his music. He has all the ingredients to be famous, he comes clean, he is staying true and he has hunger.
Wanna here more…

O.A.K. (Ontario Artistic Kinship)

This page has been created for many reasons, but most importantly is to give the artistic and creative people of Ontario exposure and to connect with one another. Creativity is the seed and it grows and branches out...
